SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT
As a business for women, AVON is committed to two major social concerns. Firstly, Avon is committed to fighting breast cancer and on the other hand Avon is committed to fighting violence against women. Avon reverse donations for these two causes. In Germany alone, Avon has already donated more than 2.2 million euros and 1 billion of US dollars around the world!
AVON for breast cancer
AVON Germany has been involved in the fight against breast cancer since 2002. Because breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women. In Germany, there are around 72,000 new cases and over 17,000 deaths each year. Breast cancer can be cured permanently in 90% of cases provided the disease is recognized early. It is therefore very important for AVON to educate women on this subject and to make them aware of the importance of early detection of cancer and preventive medical examinations. Avon hosts SOLIDARITY charity sales, an event at the center of AVON's commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
AVON also supports the mamazone patient initiative in the fight against breast cancer. Among other things, the beauty company finances the "mamazone-Mobil", a vehicle equipped with various visual aids, which regularly launches into information circuits across Germany. In this way, information about breast cancer goes where it is needed most urgently, for example on consultation days in clinics or at health fairs.
Running Against Breast Cancer - The AVON Women's Race
The AVON Women's Run has been held annually in Berlin since 1984. The event is something special, not only because it is Germany's biggest women's run, but also because the motto of the event is : "Running against breast cancer".
About 18,000 healthy and sick girls and women run to lead by example against disease.
All AVON women's races are used to raise funds: one euro for each participant's contribution of full-paid runners goes to the Hardship Fund of the Berlin Cancer Society in Berlin. AVON always rounds the amount of the donation to € 25,000.
AVON against domestic violence
As “The Company for Women”, AVON cares about the well-being of women and has therefore defined the prevention of domestic violence as a priority within the framework of its own social commitment. AVON has been active against domestic violence within the framework of the “Speak Out Against Domestic Violence” campaign since 2004. By selling charitable products from the SOLIDARITY collection, the company collects donations and thus supports awareness campaigns on the subject.
A strong partnership for women
AVON Germany has found a strong partner for its engagement against domestic violence: the National Committee of UN Women in Germany. The beauty company has been cooperating with the non-profit association since 2004. The activities at the center of activities against violence against women are aimed at raising public awareness about it, providing information, helping those affected. and take preventive measures. The "Every Three Days" campaign has recently been successfully implemented: Posters in metro stations as well as online and social media advertisements have drawn attention to the extent of domestic violence in Germany .

Facts
Every woman has the right to live free from violence, poverty and discrimination. But violence against women is everywhere. You don't have to look in foreign countries where trafficking in women or forced marriages are common. Domestic violence is also a deep social problem in Germany: according to the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, around 37% of women aged 16 to 85 experience physical violence or assault at least once in their life.
A woman dies every three days from domestic violence. * The term domestic violence encompasses physical, psychological, sexual or financial violence and is a problem that can affect everyone: in all social classes, in all regions and regardless of nationality, religion, income or sexual orientation.
